October 30, 2020
To our beloved patrons,
The Sauk is a community theatre. It is years like 2020 that prove the community is what makes our organization strong. Our 2020 season has been unique, exciting, challenging, safe and successful. We couldn’t have done it without you and we want to thank you!
As we end the year, we are looking at returning home to the Sauk Theatre. Things will be different but we will continue to provide you with theatrical opportunities that meet our mission statement. We have planned a year of smaller cast shows that can be performed in alternate venues if it proves necessary. While this means postponing four planned productions (The Sound of Music, A Year with Frog & Toad, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus), we believe we have put together an exciting year of story-telling with something for every member of the family.
Our four-show mainstage season will feature three plays based on celebrated novels and one musical based on a classic board game. We open in March with The Giver and then learn the origin of Captain Hook and Peter Pan in Peter and the Starcatcher. The audience then plays along with Clue: The Musical in October, and we end the Mainstage season with Anne of Green Gables. Our SaukSeconds season includes the beautiful and challenging Approaching Zanzibar in April, followed by the Sauk Shorts in April/May and ending with the hilarious and heart-warming The Cemetery Club in September. Our special events include several events planned for 2020 including Ed Asner in A Man and His Prostate, the annual A Night of Improv Comedy and the return of the Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company with Measure for Measure. Plays-in-Development returns in late June. We will also be producing a family-oriented production of Stuart Little in July and, finally, Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding in August.
We survive because of the financial support of individuals who love The Sauk. We come to you at this time of year to ask you for help as we look toward 2021. All donations are tax-deductible. We know this has been a difficult year. We appreciate your consideration and continued support.
We hope you are well and we cannot wait to see you back at The Sauk. Theatrically yours,
Trinity L. Bird
